I was suddenly widowed. His plan was to follow me, with our dogs, if I "went" before him. He said he could never live in our house or live, so he'd follow me. I told him he was crazy and asked how he could leave our "forever home". Well, he died before me. I am still in the same house. I met a widower - mostly because I was struggling to find a bereavement group and he had lost his wife, so I thought I'd accept his invitation to dinner. We're happily married and he is my bestie. I still hurt for my late husband - daily - but I cherish and celebrate my life today. I used to say "this is tough" and then I added "but I'm tougher".
